X5: 3.0d v. 4.8is
Discussion
Bemmerists,
After many happy years of 5 series travelling (I have had 3 now) and the current E39 M5 being great, its time for a change.
I am skirting between a RR Sport and an X5, but while fuel consumption is not a big issue for me, what are the benifits / pitfalls of 3.0d v. 4.8is? Looking at a circa 2007 model.
Comments / experiences much appreciated.
Cheers

4.8is -
Pros;
Pretty much all the extras come as standard, xenon's, nav, pano roof, front/rear heated seats.
NOISE!
Cons;
servicing and consumables expensive (brakes and tyres considerably more than the 3.0d
15/16 mpg to be expected.
3.0d
Pros;
Better mpg and residuals.
Cons;
Turbos can fail, only spec'd as well as the original buyer wanted.
If your not doing mega miles, get the 4.8is, epic car.
