Just seen this if any of you are interested:
http://www.incgamers.com/News/21188/more-battlefie...

For those at work:

EA has revealed that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be getting two extra multiplayer maps on launch.

These two maps form part of EA's Project Ten Dollar, meaning that there'll be a VIP code to activate them in new copies of Bad Company 2, while those who purchase a used copy of the game will need to pay for them.

The maps - Laguna Alta in Conquest mode, and Nelson Bay in Rush mode - will actually be included on the game disk and merely need to be activated by inputting the VIP code, which we suspect will annoy a fair few people.

EA also notes that two more maps will be freely available later in March: Arica Harbor in Conquest mode, and Laguna Presa in Rush mode.

Those who purchase the game used and don't have the in-box VIP code will need to purchase one in the in-game store, which will cost $15 USD. Don't worry, we're as confused about the naming of Project Ten Dollar as you are.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is due out on 2 March in America and 5 March in Europe. Check out our recent single-player hands-on to see what you can expect.

fking piss take. EA are the biggest bunch of s ever. Shocking that they are using their own in game credits system now and not MS Points.

I remember the good old days of Ghost Recon where they gave you around 8 new maps for free.

The biggest gripe more than anything is the fact that they are already on the disc. What the fk is this coming to?

Its a crappy way to make sure people buy new which equals more sales overall for them. At least they are going to be free though if you buy the game new.

Why is it crappy? I've often wondered how game producers will deal with the growing market for traded games, and this seems like a pretty reasonable way to go about it. Rather than viewing it as punishing those who buy a used game at a massively reduced price, why not view it as them rewarding those that buy it brand new?

I know it's not fashionable to stick up for EA, but I quite like this idea.

People buying the new game shouldn't have to be rewarded for buying the new for any other reason that the game is worthy of the full purchase price. I could understand it more if it were DLC, but when the maps are already on the disc is a complete piss take.

EA are just greedy fkwits. Case in point is the fact that on all there recent games, you can buy the bloody stuff you get for playing through the game anyway! I was on tiger woods 09 last night and was surprised that you could pay to unlock the clubs that you'd get for playing through the career mode.
