Just reinstall Vista. 7 isn't any better despite what the media will tell you, it's just Vista with a silly interface on top of it.

You can do a fresh install with an upgrade kit. It checks you have windows installed somewhere and then formats/installs.

You can actually do a fresh install on a completely blank HDD by doing a double install trick too.

I did the same upgrade and 7 seems miles better than Vista.

I have been using 7 since the first beta release and its a completely different system to vista with about as much in common as win98 and xp.
I will be sad when my RC stops working as I can't justify 4 copies of 7 Ultimate for my home setup.
I will grant you that the GUI is very similar to Vista but thats just to ease people over to the new O/S.
We used an 'ultimate' upgrade on a small Acer PC at work as a test and it migrated 99% of the existing software with it. Not saying it will work on every machine like that but it did on the L5100 Acer. All the others have been clean installs using the RC and all have proved very stable even with the generic drivers.

If you buy the full version you will still have the upgrade option open.
If you buy the upgrade then the full clean install option will have been removed.

For a clean install on a blank or formatted disk you will have to have a full version.

Yeah it will format when you boot off the DVD.

You can also make a bootable USB stick using a downloaded ISO from the MS website.

Figure out why vista is crashing first.

By crashing do you mean bkue screen of death? if so a driver or hardware is stuffed. W7 will likely have the same problem.

+1 to that, win 7 will not fix dodgy ram or a fked hdd

suspect the OP has never cleaned the fluff screens behind his fans nor knows how to use a compressed air can to defluff the CPU cooling block

does the OP have any pets like cats or dogs ?

I have a corporate intranet i have to log into - for some reason it causes my system to crash - blue screen will happen for no obvious reason within secs or hours of logging onto it (on my lappy - my other lappy is fine, so is my desk top)

I have a LOAD of crap on my lappy i dont need so a fresh instal is no bad thing.....might as well get W7 i thought?

Doe you use a VPN to log into your corporate intranet or is it just via a browsers. If you use a VPN you should check that the product will still work in Windows 64 bit. A few of them may not....

I have to use XP mode to log into our VPN at the moment. Win 7 32 bit and 64 bit both have the same issue.
