We have trialled the Boats, Planes and Trains forums since the last forum reshuffle and as a few have expressed opinions on this matter I am willing to open up the debate. Obviously we are not going to please everyone and I am not setting a precedent across the other forums on this site by doing the same, so this is a one off.
So vote away and then we will look at this in a week as what to do.

I'd also bung "Space" in there as well.
Seems a shame that some interesting posts just get lost in the lounge.
Rather than just a space / astronomy subforum, I'd love to see a more all encompassing science related forum for all us geeky types. I don't really see a Space forum sitting too comfortably along a more vehicle orientated oneSeems a shame that some interesting posts just get lost in the lounge.

I like it in it's current form.
Being biased towards sail, I enjoyed the past boats only forum.
Tend to mostly read and comment on the boaty stuff, but have enjoyed reading plane threads which I may not have sought out if they were separated into their own forum.
That's exactly how I view the forum except i'm into planes, but browse the boat threads.Being biased towards sail, I enjoyed the past boats only forum.

I thought the forum was working well as it was apart from needing space in the title.
It does seem that there are lots of PH'ers who either own, or have an interest in, boats.
I understand this.
But few PH'ers own trains / aircraft. So it seems logical for boat owners / enthusiasts to have their own sub-forum to discuss the advantages / disadvantages of owning a particular boat, leaving a trains & planes sub-forum for enthusiasts.
So, a dedicated boat sub-forum for me.

if you look at the forum index page as I type this, bottom of page 1 sit threads with no posts since Wednesday and it's now Friday night / Sat morning so I'd argue that splitting an already fairly quiet forum up into even quieter ones doesn't seem a good way to go.
Agree with adding space.
Agree with adding space.
Could you watery types have a little sub forum? So when you click on the Boats, Planes & Trains forum you get a sub forum for the boats.
Or sub forum them all as you did with the P&P. Then we can just click on the main BP&T header to read all the posts if we want, or just go Boaty if the need takes us?

I'd add space too.
Agree. As I have been saying since April, there is nowhere specific for space related topics to be posted.
I know this is tricky because space coould be subdivided into "space flight" and "astronomy" - which are quite differemnt subjects in actual fact.
However, if the word "space" was slotted into the forum title, at least people would know which forum was dedicated to space related topics.
