My original SONY headunit has just gone pop so I will be in the market for a replacement but was wondering what is the best unit to go for?
Being a plastic car, Radio reception has always been crap but I was wondering if there was any way to resolve this? I recall seeing something about this being due to the fact that the car has no 'ground plane' but I don't know what that is or means! Would a DAB unit be better than FM or will the problem be the same?
If anyone out there has any suggestions, please let me know.
Cheers.

I have recently put a new aerial in my Nob, it was from Halfords and one of those windscreen sticky ones and it is much better than original

DAB is a waste of time in a car like this.
I spent a few bob on a DAB reciever, I had two "active" ariels aswell.
Might just as well have bought a chocolate teapot, at least I could have eaten it!

I replaced mine with an Alpine head unit that was just radio and USB (Memory stick or iPod). Therefore I presume no moving parts like a CD. Added some decent speakers and the music was transformed with a 16GB memory stick on shuffle with my favourite tunes ears.

The antenna is a ford part made by Wipac, they tell me it will never work well. We need to find an antenna that isn't dependent on a ground plane.

Don't suppose you have a number for it, can't find it on the Halfrauds site.
