BMW specialist near Hemel Hempstead wanted
Discussion
Hi,
I'm looking for an oil change and filter/microfilter replacement on my BMW 118i, as it's now turned 10,000 miles/19 months old. My local BMW main dealer, Scothall Watford, ask £245, which is a joke. I've also had shocking service from them in the past and I refuse to use them unless it's a warranty issue.
I'm prepared to travel up to 30 miles to a decent specialist that will stamp up the service book and reset the service indicator, and will use the correct oil.
Anyone any shouts?
Also, how much do you think I'm likely to be charged?
Thank you in advance.

I know its a different car (335d) but I've just had an oil change done by HR Owen in Park Royal (fast lane while you wait service).
£60 for the labour and oil filter, I supplier my own oil as Halfords have 20% off Mobil 5l packs at the moment
The Micro filter was an extra £33 I think.
Thanks for the tip. Will give them a call.£60 for the labour and oil filter, I supplier my own oil as Halfords have 20% off Mobil 5l packs at the moment

To be honest, I've no idea what the microfilter does... I'm mechanically inept.

Yes Scotthall has gone down in my estimation after the last mugging, no attempt to get the (second time) coil spring replaced under good faith as outside warranty....by less than 200 miles and the attempted "you need new front tyres routine" um no I don't and I won't be be back when I replace my car either.

Gary @ Autobahn offers great work at reasonable rates, he knows his stuff and does what is necessary.

Another vote for Barry Jones. I have been using them to look after two cars (road and track BMWs) over the last 3 years. I used to do the work on my own cars but with family commitments, time is precious. I know my cars inside out and in finding Barry Jones, I know I have an independent that I can quiz and be assured they are telling me the truth. I trust them completely.
