missed out on tuscan so .........

first hi all. having had chims and a brief encounter with a cerb wanted a tuscan we saw but missed out on a purchase being beaten soooo have now seen a 02 tam with full hist and tad over 25k, pretty tidy but not having looked into these are there any major issues should be aware of.. there is no paperwork to say any engine rebuilds but can poss trace this thru calls to the service agents. two owner so would hope both being careful??? any one know of a link to buying one .. any other views very welcome including a rough price guide.. its had a new clutch also . thanks all in advance, need another tiv for the summer oh and last service about 400 miles ago thanks again

Mine was a 52 plate Tam with 12000miles on the clock full TVRSH. It had the 18" spiders and near immaculate chameleon blue paint. and it cost me private 13.5k in Sept 08 which was a bargin. Dealer cars will be 4K+ more especially if there is a warrenty.

Its an S6 engine car so this is where it could fail and cost a not insignificant sum to put right. It might be sound though, mine has not gone bang yet! I would contact the service people who carried out the work last and ask them what they did and what they advised may need attention in the near future, also look at the MOT and see if it came with any advisory notes. Look at the docs that come with the car, they can tell a very good story about what has been done and how the car has been looked after.

thanks for that the last mot had slight exhaust gas leak, hand brake just effecient and rear spring rubs on anti roll bar ?? which i dont know much about !! would a car today be a bargain at say 11k and at most 13k private

Exhaust leak may well be from one of the band clamps of which there are several (6 I think.) Not the end of the world but the 2 big cat clamps are quite expensive £30 ish each) for what they are if they need replacing. The handbrake is always bobbins just remember to always leave it in gear. Mine tried to run me over when I left it on the drive and forgot! Not sure about the suspension advisory maybe somebody else can help.

Price is always subjective and varies according to condition, colour, toys and engine re-build. If the car you are considering is the one I think it is (met blue on 16" wheels) then it looks honest enough and has plenty of service history to support the fact its been looked after from its advert.

thanks yet again assume any engine wear would be evident with sound eg too much rattle and taps etc also is there any oil guage re pressures thanks again
