Clio is dead, will update more later when I've had a look at it, bad feeling a belt has snapped, new engine jobby...need a car can't afford this am pissed off something chronic, this is just my luck!

Looks like the timing belt is foooked

Cambelt in tact but slack then tight, pretty worn too, missed teeth I think, or fked tensioner...need to chuck a new belt and tensioner on and see if it runs then.

Bugger, sounds like it could be painful. Anyone know if they're interference engines, if so I'd not even bother with a new tensioner / belt until you've seen what's smashed.

Wouldnt a minor rebuild be more cost effective?

I had a cambelt snap on my old ford.. It bent the valves but everything else was ok. 16 new valves and springs Plus cambelt.. Cost a fraction of a new engine. cost the ford dealer £480 to fix. Cambelt was only 4 miles old when it snapped!

you may be lucky and it might mot of done any damage.. New cambelt and tensioner may see you back on the road.. Hopefully its not as bad as it first seems.

Not got the time/money/inclination at the moment it's coming to the end of terms, I have loads of exams and a project due in on Monday, really don't need this now.
