So after 2.5 years of living with the batchelor pad bathroom that has its own eco system I finally have the money to turn it into something nice and a bit more friendly.

SO here is some before the smashing phase (to save myself a good couple of hundred pounds off the company)

the bath panel had already succumbed to a boot from me before the picture was taken:

non standard bathroom lights stolen from a kitchen and happily rusting in the humidity... safe... probably not, but did the job for 2 years.

mould

more mould, I really need to get my hands on the previous fitter of the bathroom.

But enough of that lets get started with disposal of suite...

fking hate mosic tiles.... jesus christ

The wall was sodden so it had to be pulled down anyways...

hammer meet basin = shards of razor sharp porcelain fly round the room.... Cheers Dave...

notice the plastic bag... well what can I about it other than have it ready when you remove any of the air traps as you have only a few seconds before the smell of the main waste pipe comes drifiting in, the first time it happened we were not prepared... fk me that smell can make you gag and keel over quicker than mustard gas...

Just the toilet and some flooring left which will be going in the next few hours:

take the toilet out and floor boards, clean up and then ready for the builders tomorrow.

To be continued...

That's rather a tight gap between the bog and the bath .. to get to the sink.

All looks a bit crammed in. The toilet looks like it used to be more central on the wall. Ripping the bath out and putting a shower in would create quite a bit more room.

Did you used to burn you leg on the rad when using the toilet?

That is what I used to tell visitors was a feature of the flat, but yes the flat is moving back under the window and the radiator is being replaced by a funky spiral one.

How do you have room for that?

Chase the feeds into the wall and have it slightly higher up?

There will be more room ~700mm If you take the bath out and put a 100mm shower tray in. All depends on location.

I've just bought an 800 quadrant shower cubicle, chrome framed with slimline tray and waste, but it won't fit into the room (due to low ceiling height after we've had to change something else) as a result I have it going spare - would be available cheap if it might be of interest?!

I have a vague recollection you posted some other threads for ideas and wanted beige tiles....please correct me if I'm wrong.

Those brown mosaic type tiles in the pics were absolutley hideous.
Just pick plain white if you have a need to go brown!!!

Fraid its not needed... wetzone area arrives today and the bespoke show screen arrives once me and the builder have decided on the best course of action this week.

Location is on the wall where the old toilet was... 320mm wide wall, 300mm wide towel rail, and the tooilet is moving to underneath the window and should mean no more burnt legs...

So you're replacing the bath with a shower?

One other thing - the boxed in section currently behind the bog - which throws the whole room off-kilter visually - is that for the soil pipe? I got rid of mine completely by using a flap valve cap jobbie, and the room looks much nicer as a result.

That unfortunately is a wall and supports a beam, which is a fker... so we are creating a new boxed in section where the shelf is now to hide the cistern and all pipes in the whole place and we are placing the sink on the other half of the boxed in section as it goes across the whole wall... simply to make it look neater.

Currently toying with the idea of a corner mirror in the other corner (right of the window) but depending on the angle of the boxed in section (square up til a point then angles out to give a platform for teh free standing basin) depends on if I go down to the glass shop near us and ask for a corner mirror and some cut glass supports to silicon them to the wall (hate the stainless steel corner mirrors) plus it might not be 45 degrees, it could be less and want them to line up...

Current updates include no pictures, that will be tonight...

But... here goes:

I have 2 polish guys working in my bathroom and the OH heard the only english word he knows...

'Accident'

he put the ceiling through on the flat below... it look supiciously like a hammer sized hole (OH checked whilst I was at work), till his mate cleaned it up and now its the size of a football...

The project manager said it was probably the dampness from me moving the suite, which the OH agrees with (cheers a fking lot for being on my side dear), until I pointed out that the water pipes are on the other side of the room, he has since taken a look and going to replace the ceiling with a new one...

That was monday night.

Tuesday my polish little friend had taken the rest of the floor out and was walking along the joists and told the OH to be careful and not come in... she offered him a section of wood 2ft by 1ft to put between the joists so it was easier for him to work.

He declined and when I went to inspect it last night I was admiring the quickness of his work and some of the pipes he had remodelled... but wait hang the fk on... the piece of wood my OH was stood on was covering something, yep you guessed it, hole number 2!!

I tired to pick up the wood but it had been nailed to the joists to make sure noone else fell through....

So now the downstairs neighbour (who is in the process of selling) has one hole into the hallway and one in his bathroom ceiling.... I can actually see their bath being illuminated by the light in my bathroom...

Good job I have an understanding neighbour and he has already sold the flat and I have keys to let the builders in to repair all the damage at their cost...

Today they start on the external walls to lower the waste pipe and put in an extractor fan... Im dreading going round tonight!!

Not the cheapest and is part of a company with very good reviews in mybuilder, rated builder, myhammer and on the websites.

they have several branchs in the south of England and I couldnt find any bad words/scam/avoid/blogs about them.

Then only have a minimal deposit at the moment and the rest is due on completetion.

Project manager is punctual and prompt every morning and evening and is severely pissed off at his polish builder.

Mistakes happen and yes they have insurance to cover everything.
