Forced to use W7 32bit.....is it much worse than 64?

After a day of installing all my software back on to W7 64bit (after using Vista 32) i have now discovered my contact management software will only run on 32bit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Option 1 - £200 upgrading the software to the latest version (which i have no need for other than this isue)

Option 2 - reinstall the lot on 32bit....for business use will i notice much difference? (£180's worth?)

Can't you run it in a virtual machine? Haven't tried that myself but basically that should allow you to install W7 32 and run it in a window under W7 64. I would imagine that a CM system can easily be run like that (no big video requirements) and it would allow you to run everything else under 64bit.

I think the M$ virtual machine software is free, but I might be talking b*ll*x... I'm pretty sure there are freeware versions from other manufacturers around though.

ahhh....but like an idiot i have a sony which has VM functions turned off!

Think i'm going to just spend the £180!

use vmware player. That will work

cant use vmware on a sony vaio as the VT support is off on the bios and you cant turn it on.

You can, as VMware doesn't need VT to run 32 bit apps. I'm running VMware Workstation downstairs on my non-VT enabled lappy without a hitch.

w7 should be able to do this for you without vmware, check out the xp mode (and more) it runs a mini virtual machine without all the startup etc.

i am using it to run a couple of old apps.

You'll still need VT mode enabled in the BIOS for Win 7 XP mode.
