Got my defender stuck in a field today!
Discussion
yes smiles alround I guess! I was on my way to the shooting show at newark and found myself busting for a pea. So I pulled into an entrance to a field got out did the business went to spin round as I didnt want to reverse out onto a busy road and got bogged down in a clay mud bath. I managed to get it almost to the edge but just couldnt quite get the front wheels up onto solid ground. A helpful passing samaritan pulled me out thank god.
yeah its funny now but wasnt at the time. I had an old bit of carpet out of the back that to dog goes under the tyres and I was axle deep in thinking I'm going to have to ask the farmer to pull me out with his tractor. Best bit is the nice bloke that hauled me out gave me a ticket so i didnt have to pay to get into the shooting show, result!
Thats the thing though, no matter how good the engineering, if the road tyres get plugged with clay & mud, your not going anywhere without something like some stones or (carpet) under a wheel.
On the icy incline outside gate last week I hooked a chain to a truck and towed him in,
yet yesterday on a claggy wet grassy paddock it was all I could do to save face and keep the samee Nissan moving,
Anyway lowest gear you can manage, & don't spin the wheels
