Say if you saw a job ad from your employer for a role at the same level as yours and you knew full well that your employer never ever states the salary in a job ad..but it said:

"£xk to £yk for search optimisation only" (so you know the recruitment people have cocked up somewhere along the lines)

how would you interpret: "for search optimisation only"? what does this mean?

The people who submit the jobs to those portals can supply a hidden field for the salaray range, so that the job is returned in results when people perform a search with a salary range.

The person who entered the advert details clearly didn't understand that sentence!
