4.5, 5.0 differences
Discussion
this topic must have been done to death but I'll be damned if I can find one with the search engine.
I've had a 4.0 and a 5.0 so know there's a big difference between those two but I'm looking at owning another Chimaera for the summer and wonder wether I should be looking at the 4.5 as well as a 5.0, the 4.5 seems to be well regarded in terms of the way they run/driveability, but would be very interested to know what the differences are back to back on the road and the way it punches you in the back, all things being equal that is, ie to healthy examples.
Any pointers? even a thread link
Cheers

thx will have a rean anyway but its primarily the difference between the 4.5 & 5.0, I know I dont want the 4.0 again and was decided on a 5.0 but am wondering if a 4.5 will suffice
As much as any TVRs are the same, the 450 is close to a standard engine compared to the 500, esp the head work.
If you're comparing against other TVRs, do track days regularly or want evry last bit of power that TVR offered then the 500 is for you. If it's for more mundane work or comparing against other manufacturer's cars then the 4.5 would be the way to go.

500 is just about acceptable in the go dept. Forget the rest bhp/litre laughable.
You will want to mod the 5.0 after a year anyway.
Hi Jon. You will want to mod the 5.0 after a year anyway.

It all depends on what you want, surely?
All the 'late' RV8 cars are good fun, aural sex and bags or torque. No they're not the fastest thing out there, but IMHO that's not what you're paying for. I loved my 5 ltr, you could drive in 5th all day if you wanted to, yet drop it down a cog or two and the noise was awesome.
