Looking to move down to Haslemere in the next few months, been living near Guildford for 12 months.

So what’s good or bad about the place? I know it’s a lot quieter and laidback than Guildford but whatelse is there to recommend it?

I lived there for about 5 years and will be living there again soon-ish, currently in Milford.

It is a nice quiet little town, a little bit Stepford wives occasionally..but a very peaceful place to live - and very easy to get out of if the mood takes you.

My outlaws live there, can recommend it although the pub scene is not the greatest (usual small town problem of oiks).

Looking to move there myself if the housing market picks up, you get a lot more house for your money than in Guildford...

Cheers Guys, well i looked at a house in Grayshott but the Hindhead roadworks have ruined that area, until summer 2011 i suppose.

I’ve been to Haslemere a few times, to be honest im renting with my wife and i was so surprised what 1300pcm gets you there! I like Guildford, well i actually live in Bramley, but i keep feel like I’m getting ripped off!.

Seems to be a few nice restaurants and the station gets a good service so it looks good on paper.

Maybe a good place to buy at the moment given that the traffic, and therefore journey times, will improve significantly...

Yes, Haslemere is a good rail service. Any further south (for example, Liphook, and the journey gets a bit long and there are fewer trains).

Traffic seems abit chaotic around the station area at the moment, not sure if that was just whilst I was over there.

Secured a house on the Hartswood development, just off Midhust Road. Didn’t want a new build particularly but practicality prevailed.
