I noticed one of our radiators had a load of air in it over the weekend(only bottom was hot) so i bled the air out, there was loads in there & now the pressure gauge on the system has dropped so it needs topping up. Trouble is on the filling loop there are two taps-one on the "heating side" & only on the actual cold water feed. They both look like this tap :- http://www.screwfix.com/prods/16505/Plumbing/Brass...
Trouble is the one on the "heating side" with the pressure gauge opens fine, the one on the cold inlet will not move at all, i noticed on the opposite side to the tap lever there is a cross head plastic blank-could this be some kind of lock out? I'm not going to open it without knowing for sure for obvious reasons!! Thanks for any help.

I have a closed system and only have one tap. It feeds from the mains feed that goes to the water tank in the loft, and if I am down on presure I turn the stop cock on until the presure is at the right level. It enters the heating system on the return pipe before it reaches the boiler.I do it slowly so as not to put stress on the boiler if its hot .I try to do it do it when its cold.
The little screw on the back of the fitting is a bleed screw I think.
Not sure what you mean by the cold side?
