front end respray

I'll get flamed for this for sure but I'll say it anyway.
I had a full respray a couple of years ago - the proper job, everything off and done all the way over and when I got the car back it was fantastic. Until. The first stone chip and I'll tell you that is bloody deflating. And then the next. And so it goes on.
Bottom line is if you are going to drive it, it will get stone chips and IMHO the money for a front end spray would be better off stuck in a pot in case of needing some mechanical work doing.
That's unless you are going to use it as a concours car and trailer it everywhere.

Yes and no.
When I bought my Sag RG had just given it a 3000 front end respray.That would mean me spending 3000 every 2 years just to have a pristine example of a car that I use every day.I have done 10000 miles in 10 months driving around Europe and the UK and Ireland and have several more trips planned.
With that sort of mileage the stonechips are inevitable,and as I spent a lot of money on the FFF engine I'm going to get good use out of it.
I would definitely have it done prior to selling, but unless it was outrageously bad I just see them as battle scars.
Nobody has come up to the Sagaris yet and said "mate,those are desperate stonechips",however as it's going to the Celtic gathering in Donegal in two weeks I will now be expecting a few comments!
I agree that it would be nice to have a car with no stonechips,but to do this you would just park it in a garage and drool over it.
This doesn't do it for me.
The Spirit of Driving is what TVR's are about.
(by the way I am an autoglym trained valetter and I do clean my car on a regular basis!)

fair enough, obviously there will always be a number of chips on the car, but i think after x-number of years i will get mine sorted if it becomes too bad.
agree though that it is impossible to keep pristine, but i'd hate to think in 5+ years time i'm driving around in something which looks like the Tuscan out of Swordfish!!!
