Laptop Power Socket Jack Problems (HP)

Hi all,
I am currently in possession of an HP G7000 series laptop, approx 2 years old. The mains cable won't charge the laptop - have tried a spare cable and that doesn't work either. The battery happily charged in another unit, so have ruled that out.
As such I have dismantled the laptop following HPs informative instructions and I have found the power connector cable. It is not quite what I expected having taken apart a similar laptop in the past.
Can the power connector cable (part no 454945-001) be easily repaired orreplaced - as I assume that is what is causing the issues experienced.
Any replies would be great

there is a replacement cable, looks easy enough to swap, take a close look at the plugs and sockets to see if there is any anti vibration tabs you need to press to pull them out.
if you can get it to charge from wiggling the adaptor, then it is probably the socket that is bust, not the lead.

I quite often do laptop repairs for broken power jacks, they are usually designed like a torque fuse, if there is too much bending on the lead, the plug will break rather than crack the mobo.
you mention a lead rather than a plug on your lappy?
Here's a quick pic of the motherboard. The cable I refer to is in the centre of the photo, and attaches to the MoBo where it is circled in red. I've tried wiggling and pushing to get it to work but to no avail as yet!
ah, i see what you mean about it being different.
i'm taking that as having a remote socket on the end of that lead, rather than soldered onto the board.
i would have expected it to work maybe after a bit of movement, even if just for a split second, but i guess it's the best shot you have at the moment.
