Logitech LS1 Laser Mouse problem Jerky Pointer
Discussion
Bought the aformentioned mouse for work last week and I'm having issues with it. Shop I bought it from has tested it and has said they can find no fault and until they do I'm stuck with it (tremendous customer service, would recommend to anyone).
The problem I have is that the mouse will work fine for several hours (contstant use on 3D CAD software) but will then become extremely jerky in its movement. Sort of like its moving 10 pixels at a time instead of one, except its not as consistant as that. It becomes essentially unusable. Have tried cleaning lense. Have tried resetting the computer. Tried fiddling with all the settings. Tried uninstalling Logitech Driver. Have tried resinstalling Logitech Driver. Have tried with no Logitech Driver and just relied on the windows driver (XP 64). Nothing seems to be curing it. Except that sometimes it works fine for no apparent reason.
All other mice seem to work fine.
The shop have suggested it may be a software issue though they have offered no advice as to what that may entail. In this battle of principles (It was only £20 FFS) I have currently left it with them to test further though I have no confidence that they will do that as what is the point in them spending 6 hours using a £20 mouse to see if its faulty.
So in the meantime. Any idea if this is a common problem? Any potential solutions? Any ammunition I can take to the shop to try and wrestle my money back?

Presumably you've tried another USB socket?
Have you tested it on another PC?
When it stops working normally, does it coincide with anything such as printing or plugging in a USB connector etc?

In answer to your questions.
1) Yes tried this and by-passing the USB hub I have attached. No noticable difference.
2)Not really tried it on another PC though I will if i end up getting it back. Trouble is, it can work fine for hours and then go berserk so I'd have to use it for some time. And this sort of answers your other question. No noticable reason for it going ape.
I have a MX620 Laser mouse and am experiencing exactly the same problems, tried the receiver in various different usb ports and even tried it on my laptop. It will work fine and then all of a sudden goes into slow motion, I found a connection programme on the logitech site which seems to cure the problem for a while. All in all not very impressed with it.

I deliberatlely went for a wired one hoping to avoid these problems
After reading about other peoples problems on Tuesday I went onto Logitech's website and sent an email to support, they asked me to change the batteries which I did, no improvement! Emailed them back to inform them of no change next thing I get a UPS tracking number to say they are sending me a new mouse out, it's in Utrecht, NL at the moment and will be with me on Monday. Hopefully this one is better.
Cheers

Good news. Cheers

Got my mouse back from shop earlier and a colleague has been using it on his PC all afternoon and the little bugger has performed faultlessly. If it misbehaves again, I'll get onto Logitech.
