Alrights lads, as above really. My mate live on his own with no job at the moment living in quite a cold and draughty apartment. He has a portable butane heater which costs about £20 to top up, he reckons he can fill it up with LPG for about a fiver. He would like to know are there any health hazards involved in doing this? Any info you guys can give?

butane is LPG, does he mean propane?

Propane is more dangerous inside, but IIRC it should work fine.

If he means the LPG you buy for cars, its a Propane / Butane mix with a few other things thrown in. The regulators used by portable gass appliances can be gas specific as can the appliance itself (info is from 17 years ago, whilst suplementing income delivering the stuff!)

The safest way to get cheaper gas, is to simply ring round the local suppliers smile

ETA, if he's planning on filling up at a petrol station, will the nozzle even fit?
