I had an order in for a California and could have had one of the first. For various reasons I opted for a returned deposit - even though they have been making a premium.

I had a call from my dealer this morning offering me a build slot later this year or early next. Does this mean that the prices are going to head South?

For a good few months now you have been able to get cars in under a year, so your dealers offer is not particularly special. Think you could get a summer car if you phoned around.

Are California's still making a premium? They certainly were a few months back.

I guess some buyers are switching to 458's - even though the wait list is very long. I think the 458 Spider is even longer.

Looking at PH, Autotrader etc, I'd say no premiums are being achieved any more, assuming a car is £160k after options. I'd put money on being able to source cars at discount.

I don't think I want a California but I do have an order in for a 458 Spider. That's why I am watching the prices.

I suspect that I will own the 458 for a year or 2 but obviously need to watch the depreciation.

Thats good news for me, as I'm becoming rather keen on the idea. Just need to take the kids along to see how they fit in the back, and make sure there is an aluminium kickplate option for the back of the front seats!

Do they have a date for the 458 spider?
