Lying Washing Power ads - How are they legal?
Discussion
Please don't move to "TV" as it's not about the actual ad as such but...
Whenever Ariel/Daz/Persil bring out some new detergent they always show how it's their "best ever" with a side-by-side next to their previous product which still shows the skid marks/dirt on the washing.
Thing is, on the advert for the previous product they did exactly the same thing.
I know it's the whole point of advertising, but legally it seems slightly dodgy as it suggests the previous ads weren't entirely honest...

Ding! Sad I know, but it annoys me as well. Whenever Ariel/Daz/Persil bring out some new detergent they always show how it's their "best ever" with a side-by-side next to their previous product which still shows the skid marks/dirt on the washing.

I am always impressed with the picture shown on TV adverts for HD TV's, I wish my picture was as good as that.
erm...
but yes, it does show the absurdity of some of these adds.davido140 said:
same goes for the pepto-pimptides or whatever pseudo science bull crap ingredient that can be found in the latest lotion or potion that will make you look younger, or your hair shine etc.
It's all utter jollocks and I have no clue how they get away with it.
Totally agree. It's all utter jollocks and I have no clue how they get away with it.
I find these claims hilarious. Also laugh at the mascara ads. 'Now up to x5 length for your eye lashes' !!!
So if you used the newest product after using the previous best (up to x4 length) having used that on top of the previous previous best etc etc ... then you'd surely be dragging your lashes behind you on the floor they'd be so long !

"New & improved"
How does that work then? It's either one or the other
Not necessarily - it might be new but not so good...How does that work then? It's either one or the other

However, 'new' and 'innovative' is tautological.
The one that got me recently was (I believe) Cheryl Cole lying on her tummy and going on about 'limp, lifeless, dry, flat, boring hair' or some such - ie five problems created from one, then hey presto, Product X solves all five!!
As for washing powder, any cheap old own brand stuff is OK by me. Chuck it in, set dial to 'everything', bish-bash-bosh sorted.

kius Marketingularis and Testiculi Verbosa for example?
I see what you did there!I've got long-ish hair (in a tough manly way of course) and I find I get pretty much the same result using fairy liquid to any of my GFs fancy hair products.
