Timber merchants

Afternoon folks, wondering if anyone knows of a timber merchants in the farnborough/bracknell/maidenhead or farnham/guildford/woking area. (I'm in farnborough)

Basically after some nice pieces of wood to build sides for desk sort of 24"*30" nice looking. Obviously burr walnut type of thing would be lovely but far too expensive so wondering if there was anywhere that held stock of various types in various sizes you could look at and buy

Erm nope! You have already said in your original post that you cant afford the real thing!

Ok then I can afford it. Therefore what mean is a nice piece with a good grain type/good natural look but solid wood NOT veneer.

So back to the original question re timber merchants where I can see options...

I would suggest 'pippy oak'
If selected well, it can have have interesting features, especially if there are some medullary rays present.

Or go to a reclamation yard and get some old / interesting timber, then take it to your friendly PH joinery workshop for resizing/preparation
