New C Class - 350 same price as 200???

I'm looking at a new c class, 350d (3.0cdi) and the contract hire is £1 a month more than the 200d (which i gather is the old engine replaced by the 250cdi)

How does that work? Is the resale on the bigger engibe much better after 3 years? The OTR price is 4/5k more?

There is a production restirction on 220/250cdi's at the moment, so Merc have subsidised the finance on the 350's very heavily to make them compeitive; this has made them stupidly cheap compared to the 200cdi. The problem you'll have is trying to get hold of a car, stock at the moment is extremelly limited and isn't going to improve before the above deal expires.

BTW the 200cdi engine isn't going to be replaced by the 250, it's still in production, but is just the entry level diesel engine.

I would if I was you, although be a bit careful. The quote on the link above will be for a standard car (I Haven't checked it) and most of the cars in the network are heavilly specced, so this will have quite a big effect on the monthly payments.

I noted the other day the E350CDI Sport Auto Coupe is also very cheap on lease, like less so than the cost of buying, running and selling the car over the same time period.
