My home phone (Panasonic handset ) is disconnecting whenever i try to make a call. Soon as it has completed dialing a number it disconnects and I'm left listening to a dial tone.Receiving calls are fine except they don't sound as clear as they used to be. The handset is 5 years old and until Friday evening was fine. Have checked the telephone points and all seem fine. No issue with my broadband connection (from the same telephone socket) so I'm thinking the handset maybe faulty but hoping for answers from more knowledgeable members in here..

Who me ?

First point of call -try another handset in socket -if same - go to master socket , remove front and try (known good ) phone in socket inside . If still faulty , call faults dept - you might have to use mobile and get them to call back .Alternatively - you could try using phone in a mates phone socket -if ok - use in recessed socket in master in yours . If OK-whoops- you're house wiring is faulty .
