strange mobile internet reception query

I have a htc hd2 on t-mobile. when using the web browser (opera and ie) I cannot load pages when I have 3g signal strength. its fine on h (hpda?) and works, albeit slowly on g.
on 3g pages just won't load then an error message (page unavailable) appears. this is annoying as most of the time at home I have a 3g signal.
is there anything I can do to resolve this?
