Grrrrr.....!!!!!!!!

East yorks council are spending their budgets wisely again and are busy implimenting a new 50mph zone on the A1079.

The couple of mile stretch between Pocklington (Bramby moor) and Wilberfoss is soon to be all 50mph.

From what I've seen most poor driving on this stretch is based on drivers getting frustrated behind slow moving traffic and then trying to overtake at inappropriate points/times. Call me cynical but reducing the limit will only make this worse and also cause higher traffic densities.

I've never seen any police enforcement of the 60mph limit, or general driving standards in the last 5 -7 years on this stratch of road...now that's 50mph what's the betting the camera van will be out?

This is based on a East Yorks council report that was approved last year...I've got a feeling this won't be the only 50mph zone they introduce this spring.

This annoys me too, like that road isn't slow enough as it is.
Maybe it needs to be a 50 due to the terrible quality of the road surface.

Oh dear... I had underestimated the extent of the new 50mph zone.

It will be in fact from Hayton right through to Willberfoss (5 miles?)

More East Yorks speed zone changes with details on pages 33/34 etc at http://www.eastriding.gov.uk/cr/legal-and-democrat...

Oh FFS if they carry on like this there will be more accidents due to people falling asleep at the wheel.

Had to go to Beverley today from York, That road is a joke at 50mph in places and is painful. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against protecting vunerable areas but come on.

Just think how many pot holes could have been filled with the cost of those shiny new signs rolleyes

There have been a lot of collisions and fatals on that stretch, but I am unsure as to whether it will make any difference.

Went to York yesterday, we were about 6 cars back from the dippy twit who drove the entire length of the new 50 limit at 43mph, after 3 or 4 miles the bus following him overtook, and we all did one at a time as the opertunity came, this was very frustrating,I suspect that there will be more of this to come, as them that used to do 50 in the 60 limit will now do 40 in the 50 limit. Frustration leads to drivers taking chances and having accidents.

And the opposite is true at night - still get people flying along there. Back when it was a 60 we had a run after a taxi doing 90+. Not very wise when you consider we see quite a few pedestrians on there after dark.

As the road condition is akin to a farm track at the moment high speed isn't an option any way.

It's is bloody awful in places, as is just about every road nearby.
