I was gonna plug the laptop in to check running on cerb, the car was running while I removed the carpet to get to the ECU, I moved the ECU and got a spark off of the heater control box as they touched each other!
So I got the meter out and with the ignition switched on I was getting 12V off of the heat sink on the heater control box.
I removed the heater control box and started to investigate, and found that one of the screws securing circuit board to the heat sink had come loose and allowing power to leak to earth.
Seems these components are just held with velcro, I consider myself lucky that it didn't fall onto the ECU and shorted out causing expensive damage or even possibably a fire!!!
The photos below show the middle 3 screws / nuts in question

On another note, is the engine software avalible for 64bit operating systems?
