The vending machines in my office are selling Wispa bars for 60p, which seems a bit steep. In comparison, Kit-Kats are 45p. And Wispas are half air.

Can people let me know how much a Wispa is in your office before I launch an angry tirade at the catering team ?

What is this world coming to? 60p for a Wispa? It's madness. Madness I tell you, and it's all Gordon brown's fault

60p here too by the way, so is a Kit Kat

Consider that vendors often give 20% of the take to the site.....

Machine costs, maintenance costs, etc, etc.

There is a mark up, but I wouldn't have thought they are making a killing.

My shop at work is charging 69p for a Wispa!

That's a clear 10p more than any of the other chocolate bar prices.

70p for all chocolate bars in our vending machine, but they are the king-sized ones.

ETA: But, because the machine has sandwiches and pasties and stuff in it, it has to be refrigerated, so the chocolate comes out in teeth-breaking solidness.

Vending machine? We have a fridge full of free cokes, kit kats, etc. And a fruit bowl that's kept stocked for when you think you've had enough sugar.

60p here too - I've started buying em in bulk from Macro for about 30p each.

Cans are subsidised at 10p each - if you can get to the machine before the cleaners empty it for their carboot can stalls.

Was working for a client in reading- 65p for a whispa
moved to the manchester office where their staff will get paid less- 65p still

Realised why though - They use the same external catering & vending company across all sites!

op- think yourself lucky, min chocolate price is 60p, Hula hoops come in at 50p iirc

Prices of any special edition or 'new' confectionery is seriously hiked up by suppliers, most people would be charging 60p because they have to,
I don't buy it in as our suppliers have it priced at 70, for me to buy it, let alone add on VAT and still have to get profit in there somewhere too.

I used to work in Switzerland, Monday and Wednesday were free chocolate day where bowl fulls would be placed around. This was in addition to the swiss tradition of bringing in cakes for any small ocasion.

Was hard work getting the weight back off!!

Kit-Kats and Wispas are 60p here too. Small bag of Cadbury Buttons are only 55p though. I think the Wispa buyers are subsidising the tight arse Buttons buyers.
