Warning about parking in Reading

Just got this at work.

The Police have advised us to make you aware that Private registration plates are being stolen in the Reading area. Also they are advising that Sat Nav's and attachments are to be removed from parked cars which are left unattended. They also advise that the circle mark left by the suction pad is wiped clear as this encourages the car to be broken into. If at all possible leave the glove box open so that potential thieves can see there is nothing in there to be stolen.

it's also worth mentioning that there is another related speed camera avoidance technique. 'Criminals' declare that their number plates were stolen in an area where it has been reported there is this type of activity, when subsequently the 'criminal' is caught by a safety camera, these ne'er-do-wells say that it could not be them as they were at home at the time, quoting the crime reference number and the fact that their number plates were previously stolen and that the speeder must therefore have been the plate thief.
