Reinstalling my refurbished diff this weekend...been cleaning up all the parts, nuts, bolts, etc.

Im my pile of parts I came across what are described in the parts manual as ''spacer plates''...these are flat pieces of metal that go between the alen head bolt & spring washer and the drive shaft flange itself and link pairs of bolts together...? This is probably a crap dscription but anyone who has done this will know what I mean!

Anyway, I only appear to 3 spacer plates - these came off the drivers side drive shaft...since there are 6 bolts 3 spacers will link 3 pairs so this seem correct....there does not appear to be any on the passengers side?

question - are these neccessary + what do they actually do? If they are a requirement where can I get some?

Also, would it be a good idea to use thread lock on the bolts on re-assembly?

Thanks in advance

Can't help with the rest but not sure that is a good idea unless you fancy drilling out the bolts next time something needs done, obviously depending on how good the thread lock is.

Alreet Al

hope you are well

I know what you mean...think spring washers will suffice...they've been alright until I removed the diff so no reason to think otherwise...

Nah - diff is going back in on sunday so will the conweb run - shame as the weather looks t obe good as well!!

Damn that diff! To be fair I need to replace the rad and do my annuals jobs so will miss the run by a couple of weeks!

Bump on the drive shaft spacers then...Cant really see what they do...thoughts are to use round washers or make up three more for the passenagers side.
