I've got my eye on a 59 plate M sport. It's would be more money than I've ever spent on a car, and regardless of my personal taste, I need to consider residuals when I come to sell it.

The car is met grey with the interior as above. Kiss of death or not?? I think it lifts the interior and could happily live with it. However, I have a suspicion dealers would recoil in horror come p/x time.

Alternatively, there's this one (unfortunately on a black car, which I'm not keen on)

To be honest, i had the same choice with my 3-Series and chose black, i would avoid cream leather, of course its personal choice but it looks a bit too 'pimp' for my liking, especailly in a 5 series which is an executive cruise not a chav wagon smile

Black leather would sort more people more of the time in my opinon.

I think black would probably be more saleable. Given the choice I would pick cream, only because I think it makes the interior appear to be lighter.

Well I love it. Personally I hate all the dark interiors on BMWs and Audis. Not sure how it goes with a grey exterior though - looks more suited to blue/green exterior combos. All IMHO.

In terms of resale, how much do you think its going to affect it? Not much IMHO. The dealer will tell you not at all as he is selling and not buying from you at this moment smile

I wouldn't have a black exterior if you paid me.

Too many low skilled drivers around would make you
almost invisible to most. You'd almost certainly
have to drive around like a Volvo driver, lights on
all the time, to be seen.

The cream interior I wouldn't give houseroom, either.

Family cars should have black or some other dark
colour which doesn't show the dirt so easily.

Cloth trumps leather, of course. So much more
child / dog / rubbish for the skip resistant.

Yup- all those black cabs across the country including our congested maneovering nightmare of a capital city, they must spend 99% of their time in the bodyshop, if only they wern't black!

I wouldn't have another black car either.

I'm quite pleased with the cream leather in my 5 series. I can vouch that it's easier to clean up baby sick up from than the fabric seats in my Golf.

I think the opposite. The leather seats in my old car were just 'wipe clean'. The half leather in my current car is full of bits, crumbs and other dusty nonsense.

If it not a long termer then I would question your choice of choosing a 59 plate. Get a 2007 or 2008 if residuals matter! as the depreciation will far outweigh any negative interior.

If you must then make sure its VERY well specced which will help it sell. Im a future e60 buyer and wouldn't matter to me though- its a luxury saloon, cream enhances it imo (as long as immaculately kept).

+1, I dispair when I see cloth alone in any audi/bmw/merc upwards, its called 'poverty spec' iirc.

Absolutely right. Leather is largely wipe clean. Fabric gets dirt ingrained.

Anyway Elroy shouldn't you be looking at an XF?

I've got cream leather in my 7 and love it. I've been in black coloured 7s and they somehow feel narrower and more cramped. Cream makes the interior feel lighter and more airy. Go for it.

Black E46 with creme leather, I bloody love it. I'm actually surprised people hate it, it's the best colour combo you can get. Red interior is another matter yuck

In terms of resale, I think I'd worry more about the black one being a manual...

As far as the interior goes, I had a 2007 525d SE in blue with cream leather and had no issues PXing.

Do they still do the Silver grey leather as per the E39's as its much the best compromise imho, still light but not cream.......

I do hate the fickle car market which means every BMW has black interior with black leather. Mine is like it as well - black black black black. How exciting. They look beautiful with the cream leather and black upper dash yet nobody ever specified it.

I had black/black on my E61, but would have the cream in preference.

I have cream leather in my 7 as well. I have the 'cream beige' option that gives you black carpets and dash, but cream leather seats and door mid sections. Lovely comprimise. I particularly sought out a car with Monaco Blue exterior and this interior.

I had Black leather in a previous BMW I had from new. Day 1, I was putting in my 3 month old daughter in and she threw up across the back seats. The white never came out of the stitching! Black is not always the easiest colour to hide dirt.

laugh The grey leather on E39s is widely disliked.

I like the cream interior on E60s; is the one in the second pic Ecru? Also nice anyway. Biggest resale problem will be whether it's dirty, rather than simply being a marmite colour, IMO.

I wish! The Current diesel is way beyond my means at the moment.

I'm a 'manual' man and I didn't think it mattered that much on a BMW. I prefer the mixed cream with black carpets. The other downside with the black one, (on top of the exterior colour) is that it doesn't have sat nav. I know the system isn't very good, (apparently) but I think it's something people will look for come resale time.
