Rhodes - Anyone been?
Discussion
Or more specifically, Lindos? Me and the girlfriend are hopefully going to get a fortnight over there in April/May time.. What will the weather be like?
Anything we need to make sure we do/go see?
Made the mistake of booking through Expedia and our hotel reservation has been cancelled. Wonderful! So we're considering looking into a villa for the two weeks. Any recommendations?
Thanks

A few years since I went there but found it a very comfortable temperature, To see is the Acropolis at Lindos, The street of the Knights at Kollakio - a preserved medievil street, also a visit to the Harbour and Rhodes 'Old City' where the streets are quaint and narrow. In fact there is a lot of history to the Island.
Temp at a guesss around 16-20deg and it can be breezy.

I've been to Lindos a good few times over the years now (the last time was 3 years ago though).
Your best bet is to stay in Lindos centre itself - loads of self catering apartments around. It's a wonderful place to go to, very cultured and extremely beautiful (the views from the rooftop restaurants across the bay and up to the acropolis are stunning).
Most of the apartments have air con but quite honestly, in April/May time, you probably wont need it.
The best beach in my opinion is the one at St Pauls bay (there are 3 beaches in total), though again, all are good.
All the beaches are located down steep hills though and in the height of summer, you'll be sweating buckets by the time you get to the top.
The best restaurant in my opinion is Ambrosia and the best bars, Byzantinos & Socrates - thought obviously most of the fun is sussing it out for yourself.
One of the best things about Lindos is that they have very specific local laws on noise pollution so at 12, all the bars turn the music down and all of the clubs are completely sound proofed.
I'm quite into history and specifically Crusade era so Rhodes is superb for this (with the street of the knights, palace of the grand master etc).
In short, it's well worth going

We have a place in Rhodes and can highly recommend Rhodes Old Town and Lindos. Our place is between the two and next to the best beach on the island, Tsampika.
Depending on the dates you are looking at and type of villa, we may be able to offer accomodation. Take a look at our website which has weather info plus info on the island too; Www.afandouhills.com.
Happy to answer any questions you have on the island if you want to message me.
