Things are getting to the point of ludicrous. Got off the boat at Ouistreham at 7am this morning. Cruising round the Caen ring road at a GPS indicated 95kph in the half light and - FLASH!. The BIB were there in their unmarked car at the side of the road with the radar gun. Now that is 3mph over the limit and it wasn't even light so you can see how strict they are getting. Luckily for me they didn't bother to chase me (british plates still) for what would be a 45€ fine and on a french licence one point but it is an indication as to what you can expect later in the year.

I wouldn't even be so sure about that nowadays... That was only ever a guideline, not a hard and fast rule. It's certainly not something I would rely upon.

Thanks for the info; I'm sure this is a sign of things to come. Hopefully there'll be some first-timers reading this thread, which will give them an indication of what to expect. It's also worth reading the Le Mans Guilty Speeders 2009 thread for some of last year's horror stories.

Thanks for the info. Cant blame the french plod though for keeping speeding Brits off their roads and it must be a fantastic revenue for them. Having said that, 3 mph over is tough ! I speed a little on the way down to LMS but never go mad, only by 10-15 MPH over the limit at times (which of course is wrong) If I got nicked then its my fault and I wouldn't blame the plod for doing it. Shame our bibs are'nt so sharp when I see french registered cars overtaking me at 100+ on the M2.

Tony, with your connections with the Mayor etc, cant you get them to allocate and de-restrict a five mile stretch of motorway for LMS goers to enjoy on the way down without the fear of being nicked ?

I've done better than that for you. There will be an 8 mile stretch completely derestricted for you all. This will be between the Saturday afternoon and the Sunday afternoon, going from Tertre Rouge to Mulsanne, Arnage, back up in a loop to Tertre Rouge and this for 24 hours beer

Best get a Coyote system, or get it installed on your i-phone. These are great. Okay normally someone has to take the fall and get flashed with one of them mobile units to know where the unit is well was (sod-it !!), yet after with enough people on the road, clicking in locations of mobile units, the other road users have a better chance when to hit the brake in that particular area.

Was gonna ask you, but then a simple google check tells me. Okay it's Corvette this year then, for St Saturnin, cool !!!

Is there a meeting at Mulsanne like last year? I guess there is or will be a thread. Cheers...
