Well this is it!! Last job is to phone BT and get the net paid up and cut off at this address, an address I've thoroughly enjoyed for the last 6 years. Long story short - after my divorce some six years ago I've enjoyed the single life with hobbies, dating etc. Last year I met a lovely woman and we instantly clicked, we enjoy weekends together, plus the odd week, go running, decorate together and basically enjoy each others company doing many varied things. She has children that I get on great with and her immediate family live around her area, some 80 plus miles away from where I currently live.
Recently being apart has become more of a wrench for both of us, but because of her circumstances it was always going to be hard for my lady to move, so in the end after decades of living in this town I'm upping sticks to move in with my woman. I would be lying if I said I didn't feel the odd bit anxious at times, as I am leaving my job ( being a cabby here doesn't qualify me for another area) and looking for new employment doing anything until I get settled. I'm mainly excited about the future even though I am leaving everything behind at a place I've grown very comfortable with. I'm pretty sure everything will be ok, but hey, what have I lost out on if it doesn't workout.
Anyone else in the middle of, or have made major changes in their lives?

It makes a nice change for someone to be moving on for the right reasons, and if you want to get back into the cabby thing, im sure thats a fairly easy thing for you to sort!?
Either that, or why not take the opportunity to step it up a gear.
If you're selling your gaff, why not have your own taxi firm and let someone else drive and make you the money!?

2008 I changed everything in my life. Sold house, split up with long term gf, took vol redundancy leaving a well paid high pressure job, bought a decent car with my redundancy, joined a gym, got myself the fittest I've ever been, etc etc.
Best thing I'd every done, I was stuck in a rut and had no idea what was causing it so I changed everything - Looking back I think it was the relationship, and everyone thought I was a bit mad at the time, but I'm now the happiest I have ever been in my life.

ker as Plotloss, I'll make the effort to say;When I was 44 I got divorced, and was determined to leave everything as normal as possible for my ten year old son. There was some money and assets and no mortgage on the house, plus some big bills such as boarding school. I decided to give her the lot plus half my income for five years ( She was a Chartered accountant with her own job). The upshot was that I left with my clothes, company car, and very little else.
I was staying in a company apartment which was grim ,but I had a friend in personnel who let me have it for 18 months. In that period I met someone else, but was evidently flat broke; we moved in together into a one bedroom where we lived for two years.
A job offer showed up that was much better financially, though I had to move to a new city.So, at 48 I had a new job, new wife,new city. It all worked out well, and I retained a great relationship with my son who is now an adult. It was very uncertain and wrenching at the time, but looking back at in now, I have no regrets.

All the best cliff, and yep, have followed my nose in the past. Mrs slopes and i used to live in hertfordshire, but toook the descision to move away from friends and family in the hope of something better, it has taken a while, but we are there now and very happy, so go for it you wont regret it
