My girlfriend has got me some for my birthday.

She has a printed off piece of paper/receipt, but do the tickets come through the post or something?

Thanks

With regards to the tickets is the grandstand upgrade (£39 I think) worth it and does it enable far better viewing than the standard entry ticket

Undoubtedly - without Grandstand seating, the view, if you're just wandering around, is pretty abysmal.

Thanks Civic, presume the Grandstands aren't numbered seats?

Back in the day last time I went viewing was still pretty damn good even without grandstand viewing.

Has it been made terrible deliberately for 'normal' tickets now to encourage grandstand ticket purchase?

Great british summer might also be a factor in considering the Grandstand updgrades. Definitely worth it.

I don't recall the seats being numbered, but the Grandstand was - my tickets got me into a specific stand, couple of uears back though.

Still waiting on the post/printing myself....

Most of the granstands tickets were roving tickets last year so not numbered so its first come first served for the best seats. This is exactly the same for trackside too. Given the cars go up twice daily its worth getting there about 8.30am and picking a spot and staying there till you have seen everything, then you have the rest of the day to look elsewhere. If you wait for the afternoon run then you may struggle to get a good spot. Tickets will be going out towards the end of April

I thought the open standing raised platforms offered a pretty good view. My feeling is there is so much more to see at the FoS just wandering around that for me, at least, a seat would be a waste.

And how easy is it to just wander around the paddock to see the cars up close or is that another pass you need?!

You can go almost everywhere, it's crowded but just wander around. The only area I can think of that's fenced off (with low chestnut palings)is the holding area where the drivers queue up to get ready to go out into the track.
