Original Xbox

I dug mine out the other day and have started playing some of the original games, it's great!

Question: I had an xbox live account for the original machine which I then converted to an XBL account for the Xbox 360 when it came out. Will I still be able to play xbox live on the old machine if I just run a network cable to my router? Will it affect my xbox 360 live account?

Does anyone still play the orginal xbox online?!
