Weekend Respect
Discussion
I was driving through Wimbledon today and saw the most blatant act of respect I've yet seen in the Chim.
Just as I was about to pass a bloke on the pavement he started bowing and worshipping the car! Either bonkers or a true car nut. Fantastic. So, what could I do? Give the throttle a few blips and then head of up the road, that's what. Anyway, anyone else got any respect this weekend?

out in my tuscan as well and caught up with a max power mondeo on an A road. i then proceeded to demonstrate the "capabilities" of a tuscan to him and promptly was out of sight. he caught up with me at some lights and got out and kissed the nearside wing of the car!!
i wouldn't be surprised if he went home to give himself a good seeing to!!
also i find that if i drive down the motorway at about 75,people with birds in their tt's,boxsters etc will either pull in behind me or c-r-e-e-p e-v-e-r s-o s-l-o-w-l-y past me just in case i show them up!

Today must be the day for TVR "reespek"
Driving about Kirkby and Sutton today we had teenagers loitering at bus stops shouting "nice car mister" to which a blip of the throttle was the appropriate acknowledgement. Porsche drivers and passengers rubbernecking
. Several police cars that had stopped a 'yoof' not paying attention to aforementioned 'yoof'
(we were not going fast your honour
)and a bloke shouting and pointing and grinning
as we passed him in his driveway.
Referring to an old thread, performance is why we bought the car, poser value is a benefit
Cool!

Went out for a meal on Saturday and like a numpty fogot my wallet, so owner was cool with me popping back later as we are only 10 mins away.
It was a wet night, but not technically raining and it was mild, so... get back home with family, indoors, wallet, garage keys, TVR out, no roof on naturally and off I go... didn't even bother putting a coat on!
It was just plain and simple good fun. Stopped at cashpoint in Holmfirth and the car is happily rumbling away, a crowd of girls come up to use cashpoint, "have you heard that car"? asks one, then they look at me, in just shirt and jeans (by now it's raining a bit!) with that, "is he mad or what?' kind of look. Back in the car I get and off I go. Got one crowd of lads give it YEEEEEAHHH as I accelarated away, then on the run back out of Holmfirth, on the 2 mile uphill straight, opened it up and three girls that I'd passed earlier simply stopped and stared... obviously thinking "what a God"... or possibly even, "what a tw@t".. either way, I didn't care, I was having fun and walked back in the house with a huge grin across my face confirming to Vicki yet again that I am quite possibly stark raving bonkers
Oh, and yesterday while we were out in the Peugeot (yellow 406 Coupe) I got a couple of lads shout "KILLER CAR".

The planets must have been aligned yesterday, out on my Sunday tarmac terrorist route, spotted fellow holigan Cirvy and made our way to the pub
had a Clio 172 try to keep up, and he had a good try
On the way back home hung on the tail pipes of a new 911 Turbo until he 'gave up'
had 2 cars indicate left and pull to left to allow me to overtake motorbike stylee
Then overheard a bloke next to me at the lights say to his mate, 'listern to that car' only seemed fair to give it large, then to finish the trip off, refilling with go go juice and I notice two young lads looking around the car while I was paying, kept an eye on them, but when I returned to the car they were just interested in 'stuff' educated them that the air filter visable through the grill wasn't a NOS kit
and what the 'knob' in the centre console did

i thought you were buying a Porsche
Pulled up at a set of lights yesterday, roof down, and had a gang of about 6 scooters pull up behind. They were all revving up, trying to get me to do the same. Well how could I resist. Gave the loud pedal a few blasts and they all cheered. They caught up with me at the next set of lights and pulled up either side of me to say what a nice car it was. Unusal to get appreciation/respect from 16 year olds these days.
I went out with my wife in the TVR on Saturday (one of the very rare occasions we've been out in the Tiv together) to Windsor and stopped in a pub just outside the Great Park for lunch, where a guy in the car park waited for me to get back in the car (with roof off, of course) and was very complimentary.
Slightly later we were driving along Broad Street in Wokingham when a little kid who was running along with his mates stopped dead and shouted "TVR!" at the top of his voice.
I think the attention took my wife by surprise as she doesn't experience the same sort of thing in her Rover!

Sittin gin the car on Saturday night when 3 mid 20's, slightly worse for wear lads cam e down the street knocking mirrors round on cars.
Got to the Cerb and one says, don;t touch that one it's a TVR Cerbera.
Wasn't till they got past that they saw me in the drivers seat and one said, "Crap, there's someone in it too!"

Some years back now but still I smile about this. On way back from a Brands Hatch meeting, pay me toll for goodole dartford tunnel. Hows my luck a large group of mini (original) owners club I presume were giving it plenty through that tunnel, big exhaust pipes an all that, I guess about 12 - 15 of them were up and down the gearbox and even a few passed me. Bo**ocks I've had enough of this pi** take. So I gave my dear 400 SE the berries. The look on the faces of those mini drivers as I drowned out the lot of them as I passed was a sight to behold. Very good fun and I do like hot mini's too.

If you want respect, take your TVR to France. Oh
Yep! A convoy of 6+ must be a rare sight, with congratulatory comments accordingly! eg 'British car, very nice!' I guess the French haven't yet been trained by their Govt to despise nice things or feel guilty in appreciating them.
Have to say that so far I've had no real grief. I had a golf with the mandotory scaffold exhaust revving at the lights next to me but, other than that, nothing negative. Mostly the kids just ask me to "rev it mate". That said, Mr Plod did give me some grief twi weeks back but then, it did take till Waitrose for him to catch up.
