Joe Allen. Decent food at good prices, just between Aldwych and Cov Gdn, and a good chance of seeing a few 'luvvie' types having post-theatre nosh. Nice little discrete place too, so it generally avoids being a tourist trap. Always served me well...

Well, working in Covent garden we are a little spoilt for choice but the lovely thing is that you can find brilliant palces that aren't an arm and a leg and aren't full of tourists, (although that can't be guarenteed)

Joe Allen is a good choice and would have been on my ist but there are some others you could consider.

Christophers.......great steaks and 50 yards from the theatre.

Cafe Des Amis......between Floral Street and Long Acre...good food and atmosphere.

PJ's......just about next door to the theatre....nice atmosphere and always had great service in there

Clos Miggiore......King Street, between the piazza and Garrick Street. More expensive, but IMHO possible the best restauraunt in London. Go there before it gets it's stars and becomes impossible to book.

You could also consider Chez Gerrad. It's in the conservatory on top of the Piazza buildings at the East End. Great pre or post Theatre. If it's a warm evening you can sit outside looking down. A brilliant place for the summer.

Enjoy your evening.

funnily enough just got an e-mail from Cafe Des Amis saying that they have a 50% off promotion.

Doesn't appear on their web-site but I am happy to forward said e-mail if anyone wants to PM me.

Maybe a bit downmarket, but if you're in the mood for chargrill and cocktails it won't disappoint.
