Its on a completely different planet to the cooper to be honest for handling and performance obviously, I drove the new Mini last year and didnt like it, I found it didnt handle quite as well and had lost that go kart like feel. I've been lucky enough to own some cracking cars but this little Mini has really impressed me a lot! The LSD makes the world of difference and I love the 4 wheel drift the Mini seems to throw itself into when cornering hard.
I searched for ages for my Cooper S. Finding with with the LSD was harder than I thought but having driven a non-LSD R53 there is no way I would want one without. Glad you like it. Will this be a commuter vehicle or a B road waepon?
Sweet GP,
i'm thinking about a purchase myself although am having all sorts of descision problems! How does it compare to some of your previous cars, i see you have driven a fair amount of performance orientated machinery. My girl friend owns a cooper which is great for a blast but am after something a bit more focussed, i'm presuming the GP will hit the mark.
I need something more for fun but have a few in mind including a boxter or SL. If a comparison can be made which of the three do you prefer or is that a daft question!

Hi, the GP is great fun, feels a tad underpowered from the cars i've had but a trip to 1320 mini soon will see it putting out around 250bhp so should be a very quick little car after that. The SL is a fab car for wafting down to the south of france etc but for all out driving its a bit boring. The Boxster is again one hell of a car just make sure you buy an S so you have some performance to match the badge. The Mini for me ticks all the right boxes at the moment, its a rare sight has really good handling and a few nice touch's like the strut bar where the back seats should be. To put it bluntly its reminded me how fun driving is..the Exige and Noble where brilliant handling cars but also very quick in a straight line, what the Mini lacks in straight line performance it more than makes up for it on a twisty bumpy b road.
thanks for that, i have taken a look at the 1320 site and their seems to be all sorts of GP related info on the forum. A fair amount of 'why not buy MCS and tune it and it will be far better than a GP' ralated chat. To be fair i'm not to bothered about going to town with mods although would consider sensible stuff, i spent a fortune on my old TVR and it was just a pain in ar@e to sell on!What are you thinking about for the GP, is their much on offer, it all seems to be for a standard s?
cheers.
Great looking car there mate.
Just wondering how hard you find the ride? Only comparable I've driven was a Cooper S Cab and it seemed to crash and jump all over the place but I like the look of the GP and if it rides better I'd make the trip to test drive one.
Cheers!
ETA: I live in Ireland, where the roads are so bad they make the UK roads feel like silk-lined-treacle.

Cheers, the runflats can make it a bit crashy, you will notice a huge difference in ride quality if you change the tyres for non runflats. Im going to be using Toyo road tyres I think with another set of wheels with R888's for the summer!Just wondering how hard you find the ride?
