I have a Getrag G96 gearbox in my Ultima. The current stock setup clutch and pressure plate just aren't strong enough to handle the 700+HP and 600+lbs of torque without slipping.....

So, what are some other options that other people have been successful with the G96 setup??

I plan to use the car 80% street and around town driving, and perhaps 20% for gentleman track use.

Suggestions???

which G96?

Some of the G96's have the same bolting patern as the G50, these are the GT2/GT3/ twin turbo boxs and these have had triple plate clutches fitted by gardner douglas (speak to Brammo in the states).

I dont know if anyone has fitted stronger clutches to the other G96 boxs (std Getrag), but I think the std clutch can take more than the box anyhow so cant see this being an option for such a powerful engine.

As Andy has said if it's the Getrag out of the C2 Carrera then I can't see it handling this power without 2nd gear going pop, try speaking to California Motor Sport or GBox they are the people to give you a definitive answer.

I believe it is the standard Getrag gearbox from a 996/c2.

I already contacted Kennedy, California Motorsports, GBox and some others....they only seem to have a retro kit for the G50, not the G96.

As Andy says above if you fit an uprated clutch then the gearbox will be the week link not the clutch. I would consider upgrading the gearbox. I had the same C2 box but upgraded it to a G96/50 from a turbo. It's a lot of expense but I don't regret the change. I now have ideal ratios too.
