We'll be going, usually stay at some place close by so we are somewhere near the front of the queue when the gates open.

Not sure what's scheduled so far but as this year coincides with a Farnborough year it's usually better than a non Farnborough year.

well i was just about to say I will give it a miss after tha rain last year. watching the vulcan was sublime and well worth the expense and the weather but the rest of the flying programme was a bit dull, too much fast jet stuff doing the same thing and way too many aerobatic display teams... moan moan moan

but... http://forums.airshows.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=19&am...

2 x MiG 21s!...FLYING.... smile

others rumours: Saudi Hawks, Swiss F5e, USAF C-17

Main theme is 70th anniversary of BoB so Lanc, Spit, Hurricane and others from the BoB Memorial Flight.

http://www.airshows.org.uk/2010/airshows/royal-int... for loads of info

and i guess the standard to include

Tornado
Typhoon
F16 - Dutch?
F18 - Swiss?
Saab
Black Cats - RN display team
Red Arrows
Red Devils - RA Para display team
Freece Tricolori (or A.N.other European display team)
RAF airpower/ground attack Display

I remember MiG-21's from the Hungarian AF flying at RIAT back in the mid/late 1990's.
I seem to recall that their min radius, max rate turns involved using most of Gloucstershire biggrin

We're just deciding what to do for accomodation this year.I'm looking at the B&B's,but the camping was such a laugh last year.A good proportion of the inhabitants of 'our' field were absolutely plastered by 10pm.We also gatecrashed the next door neighbours all nighter.I had a few naps on the Sunday to catch up,mainly during the wing walkers display.
There is nothing like fast jets sobering you up in the morning.

Anybody know of a good enclosure to get in ?

I used to love the Waitrose enclosure, kip in a deck chair, right on the middle of the flight line, with nice toilets and a tuck shop 20 feet away, but can't find anything about it this year. (last time was probably 5 or 6 years ago)

Any suggestions appreciated.

Try the Jubilee garden.

Yeah, Jubilee Garden, but I'm not sure I'd want to pay another £20 on top of the ticket price to sit on a deckchair.

Really looking forward to the Mig 21's but a bit early for any other announcements yet. Would be nice to see of F22 after it got rained off 2 years ago but I doubt we'll see that for a while.

I have to say I do like th fast movers but its nice to see the BBMF and similar, and considering the MoD have decided to can the BBMF to save themselves £3m a year (a tiny proportion of the MoD's budget), it may be the last time we see a flying Lancaster again.

And in response to one of the other posters, camping is soooooo much fun. We turned up late last year and got a crappy pitch but its cool having the big marquee with food, booze and live music. Roll on this year.

Haven't heard anything about the BBMF being canned, I thought this was just one of those rumours, like the ones the that surface every year that the Reds are being scrapped.

Not true. The BBMF website refers:

Airtattoo.com confirmed this week that the F-22 Raptor will be present at RIAT this year. I believe its the same set up as in 2008 where the aircraft will be based at Fairford for RIAT and also display at Farnborough the week after. Fingers crossed for better weather this year!

Waddington's isn't too bad, however I believe it clashes with another show in Europe, and a lot of Aircraft go to that show instead.

Was lucky enough to see the Raptor at Farnborough.... was driving towards Farnborough with the roof down, heard a noise, looked up... saw an F22 flanked by a pair of F15's over head at about 1000 ft... made my day!

The appearance at Farnborough was on the Monday after the washedout RIAT. I saw the F15's and F22 depart and the F22 return.

Apparently the RIAT Tower would not let the pilot do an impromptu display, so he landed and taxied up our end of the runway so we could have a closer look smile

All the enclosures seem to become more pricey each year. To be honest if you are a serious aviation enthusiast I would recommend 'Friends of RIAT'. There are three different packages available and although the mach 3 package is £192, that does give you access to Fairford for 6 days. You get a grandstand seat right on the display centre, private toilets, programme, left luggage etc etc. When you consider that a standard day ticket is £37.50, a grandstand seat is an extra £20.95, a programme will be around £8, it all adds up.
