65k miles - v low for a 924s! Most are about 100-200k miles and showing it.

Hope you find the forum friendly and useful.

A 924S may not be the most expensive Porsche to ever come down the pike, but it has enough engineering brilliance in it to embarass a lot of the more expensive cars in some driving conditions. As I recall, a 924S would run through a 600-foot slalom about as fast as a scalded rabbit. One of the best steering cars ever to roll off a production line.

Welcome to the fold Ian we'll have you indoctrinated before you know it

Never say 'only a 924' though, it's a Porsche through and through, and looked after will give you years of enjoyment

You'll wonder why you've waited this long to get one

Take a look at Ian's profile, when it comes to class you won't beat his other vehicle. Us Porsche drivers are mere riff raff in comparison.

the other one can really eat/munch/consume/gobble the pennies, particularly fuel....hence a 924.

no offence taken from the PH "porsche club". the 924 is a "humble" (restricted budget type) porsche and seems much better put together than the lotus excel i had many years ago....so far....bites lip, crossed fingers, grasps cheque book, nervously..

as an observation over the last few days of ownership, not wanting to upset the apples out of the cart as a newbie, but in the RR & B world when you meet a family member on the road (i'm starting to sound like DeR, i've been looking at PH too long!) a cheery wave is exchanged..doesn't seem to happen in this family?
maybe just my location?

Oh we have lots of threads about waving

Some people will wave back, some people won't, I personally wave at every Porsche that I see and get a pretty high return rate if I quickly flash my lights too.

Hey d944, remember the first year we went to lemans we camped near a Bentley and Mr France wandered back from talking to said owner with a fine glass of whiskey - Bentleys / bagpipes / whiskey / lemans - Ian were you camping next to a group of Porsches with numbers at the lemans with the rain - 3 years ish ago? Hi and welcome to the fold

Aye I remember it well and I have been trying desperately to resist the lure of tickets on the Houx for this year, but I give up.

yep, plan is to make its 4 th consecutive appearance at le Mans this year and do the PH meet on friday morning. i got a PH sticker for the back bumper yesterday and a little window sticky for the 924. le Mans is a long way at 18mpg and 65 mph but worth the effort every time. expect to be in houx annex again, see you there. a racing number on the bentley, hmmm, thats an idea!

We bought them from www.tridentracing.co.uk/ at Silverstone (my son goes to school with one of the partners sons). An 18" Roundel costs £1.75 and 11" numbers are 50p each, and they come off the car afterwards.

Maybe all Pistonheaders at Le Mans should be allocated an individual number?
