Hi all

After having had a chat with the dealer over the chances of getting a diesel 5 series by Aug/Sept time to coincide with my lease expiry, I was told there was no chance. So I've decided to get a E90 318d business edition on a 2 year lease.

The problem is I have no clue what colour matches with what leather trim. Anyone got any suggestions? My favourite exterior colour is Lemans blue but possibly silver. I don't want to put black leather with it. If it were my own car then perhaps but given it goes back after two years I want something which stands out a bit more.

Anyone seen any combinations where they think "oh yes, that looks nice!"

TIA

To be honest, BMWs range of standard colours is dire. I saw a nicely-specced E46 coupé on Wednesday - the only thing I couldn't stand was the paintwork: "Sparkling Graphite" translates as "sales rep grey" in my book.

What I would like to see (at least) is a nice metallic / pearl red (e.g. Sedona Red from the 1-Series Coupé/Convertible) on a 3-Series. cool

I do like Black Sapphire with Lemon leather and black trim, though. wink

I have an E91 330D that's SPace Grey with Red/Brown Dakota leather, it's superb. This would also go with a Silver car. Not sure it would with Blue but you never know. I also avoided black leather and I'm really happy with the Red/Brown Dakota, it's quite rare.

Sorry if I'm missing something, but surely they're not on 6mths lead-time?

The dark brown leather (mocha?) looks great, especially when paired with the black wood.

My favourite combo is Alpine White with red leather.

Please make it a 320d - the 318d isnt very good and its no more economical.

This was my LeMans with Lemon...

I have to say I didn't actually like the LeMans once I got it, it was a pig to keep clean, worse than black, and it only ever looked really good on overcast days or when the sun was going in...

I liked the Lemon interior though, however it doesn't go on a silver car.

The do a deep sea blue which looks more like the last pic and I much prefer that over LeMans.

And then the silver with alcantara...

The space grey is a bit close to what I have now. I do like the white but i can't help feeling like its a taxi colour.

Yes, the dealer said that the first cars will be prioritised for retail customers rather than fleet so although they are starting in June I am looking at early next year. Even if I can get it quicker, my contract expires at the end of July so miles away.

I'd love a 320d except the 318d is now in Band B tax which makes a fair bit of difference. I'm not a speed demon so not too bothered.

Its the new 'corporate' wheels of choice and account for nearly 50% of all 5 series sales (based on orders so far, could be greater!), and no I dont think you would get one before next Sept now.

So what about the new 320d ED with 109g/km? Not available in M Sport trim but to be honest its a bit of a travesty you can buy a 140bhp diesel 'M Sport' anyway with the 318d.

Its not just the M Sport trim which I liked. Its the fact that it comes with leather as standard, business nav and the best looking alloys in the range (IMO). Going to ED would mean I have to add loads of extras, live with smaller more basic alloys just to get a slightly better performance. Not sure I think the trade off is worth it unless someone can think of something I have not. I'm not that heavy with my right foot and my current 318i is plenty fast enough.

Gizlaroc, thanks for posting the pics. I do like the lemans blue & lemon leather combo. Unfortunately lemon doesn't seem to be an option anymore. Think the closest now is Oyster. Think I'll probably go for that or Titanium Silver with Red Brown Leather.
