Fun with my new Cerb
Discussion
Got to drive the Cerb for 3 days had lots of fun!!! Realised the headlights were useless and had a knocking noise when going round corners. Took it to my tame mechanic who restores performance/racing cars. Thinking this wont take much to sort out! How wrong could I have been.
Parts/Jobs done so far.
Chassis stripped, painted and waxoiled. Headlight Reflectors, bulbs and Dim/Dip Control Box, wiper park switch, front shocks/springs, throttle pots, plugs, leads and coil packs, 100amp fuse and holder, oil filter, fuel filter, throttle cable, exhaust pipes realigned, doors rehung, wheels refurbished, water leak into drivers foot well fixed, all oils changed engine/gearbox/diff.
Much swearing from my Mechanic as people in the past have had ago at doing things themselves and made a bit of a mess of it, like shearing off bolts that hold the coilpacks in place, HT leads sitting on the exhaust manifold and melting, various other issues.
Should be all sorted on Wednesday though, then she should be running really well ready for some weekend fun. Can't wait to be reunited with the old girl.

Welcome to the club! Now at least you know "it's yours" and the small "niggles" should now be sorted. Just think of it as part of your bonding experience! (allbeit an expensive one). I should think that this is most peoples experience on getting ther "new" TVR - I had a similar experience with sorting out a leak, re-sealing the doors, re-aligning the windows, new CATS, new shocks, HID headlight kit (originals are criminally bad), new handbreak stuff, big fuse let go a few months into ownership, rehung doors to align better, etc etc etc.
Just been out in mine today after not driving it for 3 months - God I love that car.

Went down to the lock up this afternoon (3 weeks all alone!) and my battery was down, cranked but not enough to fire her up.
Went home got my booster and although that said it was fully charged, it soon lost interest!
Luckily my HUGE jump leads reached from the daily and she fired up.
As I walked round the back all the fuel pumped into the exhaust decide to explode!
FEKKNG HELL did I jump! 2 foot of flames shot out the exhausts!!
Cleared up all the bits and went for a nice drive.
Needed fuel and local garage about two mile but half what there suddenly the whole car started shuddering! What the fek is going on??
Pulled into petrol station and realised I'd left the hand brake on! s
t!
Well soon sorted and off to make a bit of noise down Horsham way (Knight did you hear me!)
Had a nice blat and back through Crawley in the rush hour saw a quite a few admiring glances.
It would have been rude not to let them hear the exhaust??
Anyway 2 years ownership on and YEP they are still great fun!!
Especially sideways!
PS - Battery now left disconnected!!

what was the water leak in the drivers foot well?
GP
It was the drivers door not fitting properly, once we dried the car out we sprayed it from every angle with a low pressure hose and found that water was running off of the door round the curvature at the front of the door and into the foot well. The doors were so badly fitted that everytime you opened either driver or passenger door it was taking the paint off the front of the doors at the bottom.GP
iv had my cerb 5 months now. Still fixing it, or is it called upgrading it? i was round Crawley this afternoon too. had to go to Austec to pick up my credit card that i had left there last week. i think it spends more time there anyway.
Crawley must be use to the growl of cerbs...........

Salisbury is not so used to the growl of a Cerb in the 3 days I got to drive it, I think I gave alot of old people heart attacks when pulling away from junctions.Crawley must be use to the growl of cerbs...........
My credit card has been used so much in the last week or so it's beginning to melt!!

Im a Horshamite too you know
Ive probably done a total of about 20 miles in the Cerb over the winter. Thought I should correct that and am currently sitting in a hotel room near Rockingham Motor Speedway preparing for a track day tomorrow morning with TC and D14 AYS (a Sag owner, but weve let him come along so he can buy the beers tonight
)So, 270 mile round trip with a trackday inbetween. Should shake a few winter gremlins out
(like the throttle temporarily sticking open at 6k rpm
while showing off to the white van men behind who were egging me on)Checking the fluids before I set off the bonnet support rod snapped out of the fibreglass and one of the 'tabs' that secure the scuttle panel under the windscreen snapped. I think its just the car 'putting some manners' on me for leaving him so long in that cold garage

Great to be driving him again
