Just wondered if anyone has encountered this before ?
Was out in cerb last weekend for a wee blast with wife and kids in car, not hooning but excited fun, when i hit a pothole and my 8 yr old rattled his head off the passenger side seat belt mount.
He was ok just a sore head, but has anyone come up against this and how did you rectify it. Dont fancy a half tennis ball stuck to inside of the car, but any ideas greatly appreciated !

A mate who makes kit cars noticed it on mine and put some rubber coverings over them that most people use for the SVA test to make the bolt edge radius acceptable. Not perfect, but certainly a major improvement.

Live with half a tennis ball when the kids are in the car if that's what it takes. Better than head trauma for them. It is a stupid location.

This is a topic that has been worrying me, as I have two small children I take out in the back. A similar thread to this was running in a discussion about child car seats, and made me really think.

I am working on a solution to fix this, and have started discussions to get something made up consisting of a bracket that fits over the bolt head, which can then be covered with something much more impact resistant than foam - my current thinking is to use motorbike CE protective armour - this is a kind of impact absorbing material; then get it covered in leather to match the interior of the car.

I think that with some prototypes and a bit of work, should be able to come up with something. I'll post on here when I have a workable solution.

Mike - Sounds great. I could really do with something like this. If you do get any made up then you will need to ensure you sell it with no mention of safety device etc? I suspect if you call it a 'bolt cover' then you wont risk litigation! Anyway - I will happily buy some. Even if they are just covered in black shiney vinyl material as opposed to leather.

Mine's now got a Mr.Man-themed suade covered demister pad cable-tied around it (although my daughter is now a bit taller, putting it ouyt of danger to a large extent).

Bad design though....
