This is the Onyx Bobcat. Even its mother couldn't love it. I understand they perform very well, but does that excuse its clock-stopping looks?

Anyone know of anything even worse? It needs to be an actual kitcar to qualify, BTW, not a homebrewed special

Has he run over Santa or is the donor a sleigh?

That's not a standard Bobcat (which isn't the prettiest to start with). The "builder" appears to have added a few of his own touches there.

That is one ugly assed car..

But fk it , the geezer has probably put heart and soul into building it - and quite rightly - loves it to bits.

Probably mad as a dog , but i'd still rather go for a pint with him , than the bloke that owns this..

hehe

I dont think that Laser 917 looks that bad. It would almost be acceptable (15-20 years ago) if it wasnt meant to be a replica.

This could be a long thread...

Don't we have someone on here who actually admitted to buying a Magenta?

I've always thought the Magenta to be a very good (visually) solution to the problem of designing a sportscar with a FWD mini set up at the front, whereas the Bobcat would seem, to me, to be a very bad solution.

The 917 above, anyone know why the tail goes up like that?

designer sneezed and couldnt be arsed to correct it?
it looks to me like it's probably beetle based but even so, the back shouldn't raise up that much.

I would have to say that, again, allowing for the fact that it has to have its engine in front of the front axle (whereas most kit cars the engine is entirely behind the front axle, it's a damn good effort for a two seat sportscar, and the best solution to that problem I've seen yet (needed a horizontally opposed engine to make it work, though, a conventional FWD power unit would have been NFG). Personally.

Hey, why dont we make a car - get lots of opinion about it's look - and then call it the 'Census'?

We'll forget the fact that we totally ignored the opinions gained on the looks and go ahead with it anyway:

It's not the ugliest design ever, but for the project as a whole it surely goes down as rather 'ugly'.

That is pretty awful, isn't it. In a way it's worse than the Bobcat, inasmuch as it looks as if it could have worked out alright, buit didn't, whereas the Bobcat was doomed from the start.

The FBS Census is a frighteningly ugly car, there's just no excuse.

I wouldn't say the Murtaya is an ugly car, exactly, but I don't care for it at all. The rear is a nice neat bit of work and then it has a big bulbous nose. I suspect it wasn't the work of a designer????

But how else could they enclose that engine?

I'm not a car designer. Is it that tight under there?
If you're telling me that it was simply not possible to avoid that nasty front end, then fine, but maybe they should have made the whole car more balanced rather than making it look so front heavy.

The Murtaya looks good enough to me. It's not pretty, but looks purposeful. I defintely dont think it's ugly - I'm not sure how from the pic above you could call it ugly, from the front it's quite devoid of styling features; ugly or not.

I never said it was ugly, what it clearly is is unbalanced. It looks like someone put the wrong front end on it. Even more so in real-life.
