Chaps,

As it says really. Mrs zcacogp and I are looking at going to Bermuda in late April, and have booked tickets.

It seems that places to stay are very pricey. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to look (or where to go), which is not hugely expensive for half-decent accomodation? Preferably near Georgetown (but it seems that the island is small so you can easily travel around.)

All suggestions welcomed - thanks.

My Mum & Dad were there for new year - very expensive as you say. They were over 1k for room only & half board would have been over 2k yikes

They said its very quiet with far less Yanks going on holiday but that might be a good thing for you......

Have you tried looking over at Tripadvisor ?

I've stayed at the Elbow Beach Hotel and it was lovely.
Can't remember how expensive it was though.
I think generally, it's an expensive place to stay

We went to Bermuda last year and loved the place. However the accommodation was very very expensive. In the end we stayed in a rental apartment in a big house, which wasn’t very nice and still very expensive. Hire a moped as it’s the only way to get around. There was a lovely Italian restaurant on Gibbs Hill Lighthouse which was excellent value for money and we had a couple of stunning meals there.

Presume you mean St George's ?

That end, there is very little in the way of hotels. You have the St George's club and across the causeway - Grotto Bay (walking distance from the Swizzle Inn)

Elbow main hotel has closed, they are now operating with the "cottages" only, so a few opf the amenities have closed now.

Avoid the Southampton Princess, not worth it at all.

The Newstead Belmont Hills is superb, really good but bloody expensive..

Much better value for money are privately rented houses..We use these guys to put up guests when they come out (when there's more than 4 of them as we only have a 2 bed house)

Worth checking out, presuming you're not bothered about self-catering..

If you've got any questions about the Island, places to see etc - let me know.
