... with Gatsos, according to AutoCar.

Thoughts on this?

I think it's not such a bad idea. At least you could then actually do 30 in a 30 limit, whereas with speed bumps you have to slow to almost a stop if you're driving anything lower than standard.

Don't Gatsos cost £30,000 each?
Where's all the money going to come from?

Slightly better than humps but not by much. Flashing signs that remind you of the speed limit if you are over it are much better.

He could be on about SPECs or such like, would still be better than speed ramps, but before you know it the system would be London and then country wide.
May as well set up (another) direct debt to the goverment.

Well if he gets voted in again I predict the regions will be devolved, the Germans will take over as the financial centre for Europe and the south east will become an urban sprawl of no economic value with near 100% unemployment and total criminal control. The retail heritage will inevitably migrate to where there are richer pickings.

The North will have two new tunnels, one to Amsterdam and the other to Dublin. Eeeee its gonna be grim darn sarf

What's the point in a hidden tax camera if there's nothing to actually tell you you're going too fast. Speed humps are dangerous and defeat the point.

Why doesn't he actually spend it on Met traffic cops?!?

Not sure where I got this figure - but I'm sure to put in speed humps down a normal residential road it cost around £25k

Anyone that knows Highgate Hill - runs down to Parliement Hills/Heath in London. Will be aware of the car crippling speed humps that had been there for years. Well over the last 4 months (!!) they've replaced them with more sports car friendly ones - must of cost a fortune - though I'm happy that I can a least use the road without fear of ripping the front spoiler off !

Funny story re this road and a Cerberra I borrowed from TVR ! Went into town via this road last summer - picked up a 3 girlies for a party (fitting 4 in a cerberra was hard enough) but the extra weight in the car meant I could clear the speed bumps at any speed. In the end had to drive over them with the belly scrapping on the road - ouch !

It's coming from you. And me. Mostly via the newly expanded congestion charge zone, which may include everything inside the M25.
