Just got a Gallardo which is being delivered next week, and was wondering if anyone has a definate list of Audi/Gallardo parts e.g. parts which are shared?

I have heard the brakes are off a RS6, the Sat Nav is Audi etc, would be good to know which bits can be had without involving the Lambo dealer!

Also if anyone knows how to change the orange side repeaters for clear ones it would be much appreciated as I hate the dated orange look!

Cheers

Brakes can be sourced from Audi, depends on which model year you have. There was a post on here a while ago about some place in Birmingham (i think) that can supply the OEM pads at a fraction of the £650 lambo will charge you. The sat nav is an Audi RNS-E unit, which can be retrofitted. It does however need some modification to get it to fit. I had mine done last year by Bespoke Autotech, who advertise on here. They fitted the unit, modified and programmed to show the Lambo badge on start up, and also the bluetooth and ipod functionality. The cost was about £2.5k and i cannot recommend the company highly enough. A couple of teething probs have been sorted very quickly and with no fuss.
I think Lambo Manchester have some clear lenses for sale in the classifieds on here .. or they did a few days ago.
If you have the stock exhaust, ditch it for a tubi immediately - the best thing i ever did. The pre 06 OEM sounds rubbish and weighs a ton.

Congrats on the new car. Which did you buy in the end?

Had my details in almost every specialist in the county so got the call before it was advertised, will get the full details and pics up when i collect.

Black / Black Rims / 2004 / 25k etc

Will prob get the rims redone in silver asap (or swap them if anyone is interested), although i must admit they look good as is.

Not sure what the exhaust situation is but its quite loud on startup, would there be a place I could see it from the engine bay/underneath and see if it is s/s?

Just look at the part number and then post in the Audi section and someone can look up on ETKA ..

Doesn't always work like that, One example, the lambo clutch bearing (£1900) has the same part number as the Audi(R8) one (£300) but is actually slightly different.

Soooooooo...

If it is an Audi/Lambo part they will share the same part number?

Dont they masquerade the parts as being different when they arent? Surely you dont spend 000's at Lamborghini and walk out with premium priced Audi stuff do you?

So i`m up for a swap.
I`ll leave it with you.

That sounds strange. If the part is different, as VAG use the same suppliers for different models having the same number would be silly. Mistakes would be commonplace.

Just as a matter of interest what are the differences that make the Lambo part 6x the price?

Probably because it comes in a nice box with Lamborghini written on it. I payed £140 + vat for a Lamborghini o2 sensor, I later found 'exactly the same' (bar the lamborghini packaging) o2 sensor for £25.

I have posted on this subject before. The Gallardo shares a large number of parts with the R8. Even large components like the gearbox and the V10 engine on the latest R8. If I had the time I would compile a list but unfortunately I don’t. The parts numbers are very similar but not the same to distinguish the different cars.

This is one of my classic pics of the R8/Gallardo gearbox as an illustration:

That's what I thought, but didn't want to post it, in case it sounded flippant.

Short list of compatible parts:
Stereo's
Switch bank
Air Con controls
brake discs and pads
steering wheel
interior lights (i think)
wheels (but why would you want to)

Cool sounds good,

Its only really the discs & pads & things like coild pack which i would assume I may need down the line.

If the gearbox goes we have a big problem whether its Audi or not!

Friend of a friend was under the impression his local audi dealer (who does a lot of R8's) were capable of doing minor services and any brake changes etc ..

I laughed at the time .. but perhaps he was onto something ... I have to admit it wouldn`t bother me if a seller had his routine maintenance done by his main dealer ..
