now i don't expect you guys to especially like these cameras, they are certainly no d-slr's, but they are cheap, and I still think its a valid thread :P
I'm looking for a cheap digital camera for the Mrs. The remit is, at least 10MP, can't use AA batteries; must be rechargeable, and should be as good as possible. The Mrs is off on holiday and theres a 50/50 chance she'll break it so I don't want to spend too much smile

From what i've found I can get both the Samsung es55 and the Sony DSC-S930 for £65 delivered. both 10MP with fairly good reviews for the price each.

Which would you guys go for, or am I missing out on some other good cheap camera?

Have a look at the Lumix range before you throw cash at one of your other choices

yeah i know, get what you pay for. but still, why pay a shed load for something you don't need.
someone half decent at photographic composition with a camera phone can take far better photos than most people with a d-slr.

have a panasonic lumix as my main one, but she definately isn't taking that on holiday. the range is just too expensive for this though.

Chicken Pox, do you know if the samsung does very well in low light conditions?

flash seems okay from what folks say but as you'd expect not as good as Lumix (mrs has the FMC-33 and would say slower than that focus/shutter delay) again fine for static (as are camera phones wink ) but so long as not expecting to much should be okay.
